In this episode (documentary style) I talked about the events that took place when I took part in the first ever Google Cert a Thon organized in Ghana.
[0:00] Hey guys, welcome to another week, and as usual, Wednesdays are for digital marketing. This week's episode is number 9, and it comes with a twist.
[0:26] Today's episode, and it's subsequent ones, maybe 4 parts, will all be about Google ads. And here's a quick update. So last week, the guys at Google Nigeria came all the way to Ghana to organize a first ever agency set-a-ton in Accra.
[0:45] This set-a-ton is for agencies or agents who want to be certified in Google ads. So you know, I went there, I didn't go there alone, I went there with my recorder and recorded all the events that took place.
[1:00] If you are a digital marketer who have interest in Google ads, and yet missed out somehow, half all that you need, all you gotta do is subscribe so that you don't miss an episode.
[1:13] This episode, and it's subsequent ones, will be about Google ads, as said earlier, and the benefits of Google ads for your business, and most importantly, how to be certified if you are an agent or part of an agency.
[1:27] And I so won't suggest that, but let's hear a word from this episode's sponsors. This week's episode is brought to you by Kaimi. And at this point, I can say three things about Kaimi.
[1:42] One via Nacho, and that is no chemicals added, they are probably made in Ghana, and their sweet center skincare products will awaken your senses.
[1:52] And when I was coming to the show, Kaimi gave me some discount quotes to share with my listeners, which will give you 10% discount if you shop on their website.
[2:02] And yes, I will share with you in the course of the show. But Kaimi, they take skincare personal. Another supporter who is worthy of a mention is Rankcase.com.
[2:14] Rankcase.com is the platform if you are a real estate agent, or someone like me who is looking for a place to rent. If you are that person, head over to Rankcase, that is R-I-N-T-I-X.com.
[2:30] Search for your next home. So before we get off, we are introduced to our speakers, Ayo and Toon. And as introduction, I talked about more than Google, how Google is now AI focused, and why it is important to use Google as in your campaigns.
[2:49] So I have a short coverage of both of those last days, and we reach out to Kaimi's customers. Thank you. Okay, so why are we here? The first thing I'll use, because a lot of you here have said, is to deal with expertise.
[3:25] We want to cover some of the basics of Google ads, some of the basics of YouTube and video, video marketing. In the last few months, Google Ads platform has saved some of the biggest changes since its inception.
[3:31] The platform, the UI has evolved, exchanged. The platform has changed. The platform itself is now a lot smarter, so at Google, we have, in a sense, a Google from the mobile-first world, so I'm AI-first world, right?
[4:03] So we believe that artificial intelligence and machine learning is going to have the biggest impact on technology for the next few years. And if you are really into technology, you can already see that a lot of Google platforms, Google Photos can now, you know, identify people, you can go to Google Photos and look for a receipt of Facebook people, or places, and you can bring out pictures of those places.
[4:29] Google is now smarter, so Google has a lot of competency of emails. YouTube is part of the version that I think, and sometimes it feels like YouTube is reading your mind.
[4:42] You know, you're thinking about what you're doing, you're giving, so it's exactly that view right in front of you. And so many of our products, you know, all of our products are not featured by the version that I think, and the same applies to Google ads and smartphones, right?
[4:54] So there's a lot of smart campaigns, smart functionalities, and I've been on the page, we are going to try and replace humans, like most movies, but rather we're trying to help humans with more efficient, you know, get a lot done, fast up better, and try to better themselves.
[5:10] Anyway, we'll have more time to talk about all of these going forward. Now, if you're like me, who have gone to numerous Google events and workshops, or even organized some Google events yourself, you'd know games play a major role.
[5:23] Knowing this, we continue with the game, the game of Kahoot by Google, of course. The objective of the game is really simple. Who can answer most questions?
[5:34] Kahoot is a multiplayer game, which we all took part, answering various questions, questions like, how many people use smartphones in Ghana? Basically, the game was to bring life and test our knowledge on facts about Ghana.
[6:08] We got the right to the wrong spot around, and we can solve it. Yeah, you tell me. Before we take part, how many smartphone users were there in Iran?
[6:20] 25% of the top population. 25% of the top population. 23% of the top population. 24% of the top population. That's cool. It's really on the higher side.
[6:33] 4, 3, 2, 1. To take part, you head over to Kahoot.it on your phone. Even you can access it on your PC. There's a common pin code, which we all typed to get access.
[6:54] Once you are in, you give answers to the questions using your phone. It is at this moment that I realize that I know nothing about Ghana, but I know the industry I'm in.
[7:05] We keep learning all the time. It's funny, the Ghana, the Ghana questions. Right after Kahoot solely came on stage to tell us what they have in store for agencies after a certification program and what we are to expect at the end of the day.
[8:11] I know it's a Google event, but let's talk a little bit about DigiClan. If you heard DigiClan, it's an organization I'm happy to say on part.
[8:28] DigiClan, just like any other professional groups, share ideas, tips, and geeks in the digital marketing industry. If you are in digital marketing, which I know you are because you are listening to this show, I'll drop the link to join our group in the description box.
[8:46] All you have to do is just click on it and you can become a member. Again, I want you to be certified with the expectations that are there today.
[9:39] We want you to be Google partners. How many of us are Google partners? So we have what I've been here, and we've been talking to you on three Google partners, what you need.
[9:52] We're also going to be sending comments out to the community as well as the other three Google partners. Now, you've been asking me, why should I be Google partners?
[10:01] Because Google partners is a platform that gives you the resources you need to best tell yourself and build your expertise. So you have sessions on like single example, how to pick, how to propose, how to be a search expert, how to be a mobile expert, attribution, observation, all these various trainings.
[10:21] And then also, and you can take a state global stage, so you might imagine you're working with a guy and you have those practices, and then you just come up to the agencies from around the world, and you can see what they're doing, and they do that, and then you have the opportunity to work for it.
[10:38] So it's very, very important for them to join the partners, and then Google partners. How many of us are doing so much? See how I'm doing this.
[10:46] How many of them Google partners? How many people do I want to? Okay, so you come up, this is how popular Google is doing, and how do I become?
[10:59] My question to you is, what do you want to do? Right? So let's just take courage to have Google as a challenge. Why? I want to just say, if I didn't have Google as a challenge, already having to do needs, start picking for business, I'm doubling that.
[11:19] Right? As agencies, of course, you don't have a retainer, or you don't have a consensus then, but this step of mission three is actually building a revenue.
[11:27] Okay? If you want to be on the stage of the community, I'm going to have a portion of Google ad session. Right, if I hand out, I am myself, I'm coming to the market.
[11:43] It depends on the nature of the world, if you're in CNC. So are we calm? Whilst Tolu was talking to us in her presentation, Ayo came on stage to ask us questions.
[12:03] Not that we didn't like his question, but come on. Anyway, let's hear some of the answers when he asked us about the future of the guitar marketing.
[13:02] This is a concept video, it's called the future of the city, video. First show up some companies are thinking about how the guitar will evolve, and this is beyond the guitar marketing.
[13:14] This is, you know, talking about products, and where we are like, how that can change and evolve. And I also want you to say, okay, so future of the city, find out how they evolve.
[13:25] So technology is really moving fast, and things are changing very rapidly. A few years ago, if you follow me 10 years, there was a major announcement.
[13:35] I think a lot of the world didn't really notice this. But at the most, I have this clear representation on this new company. I'm a big fan of it, I'm also a white girl, and he's just expecting a new company called Nereme.
[13:49] How many of us know about this? About Tolu's three names, right? And I think it's amazing. I'm like, I wish I was a blue girl. So I think, you know, be more young girl, or live, you know, so long as they experience the materials of that product, that technology.
[14:06] And it's human nature, it's essentially a brain machine interface. It's, you know, it's putting a digital layer to your contents and your brain.
[14:15] So the idea is that if the capacity of our brain will measure by your mouth, so if, you know, our brains are capable and we can compare that to, say, five miles, still we barely want to take about five inches.
[14:29] So there's a lot of capacity in our brain that will practically have use or attack you. And, you know, it's essentially building a brain implant that you can put, you know, either inside your brain or behind your ears and can help you in a sense of source the job of thinking to your machine.
[14:49] How cool is that? Cool, it's crazy. I think this is a problem. Because if you look at the evolution of mind and where mind has progressed, it's more around outsourcing some of the things that we would have struggled with.
[15:03] Things like writing, like communicating, like processing, all of those things. For instance, writing where we are outsourcing from, you know, just, you know, communicating and people forgetting things.
[15:13] And we were able to put pen to paper. That was it. We're able to transfer knowledge to generation. When we outsource the function of processing information to computers, the computer can really program and get things done for you.
[15:28] And now we're on a key stage ourselves to the job of thinking. You know, and now you can think so much and think so much information. You can remember a lot of things.
[15:38] You don't have to go get it. You don't have to be stressed. This much of it stays here. And I think that's really cool, right? So this is a similar for you by the way you put this phrase.
[15:48] So just, you know, to expand how we think about the details I've seen, the industry that we're currently playing, and more importantly, to start challenging our clients.
[15:58] If today doesn't try to convince the clients to gain play on digital, then, like, the clients are going to gain. And if your clients are going to gain, very soon you'll also gain gain.
[16:09] I have a saying that as an agency, it's only as good as clients that manage, right? Because the clients, they are driving off on who you've done.
[16:18] You know, so it's about time for not just commercial clients. We say that we're not getting big, I think, about that stuff. But start thinking about how to use it in terms of the clients that are going to go and go and just ask students, so they show using APIs, using current platforms to expand the reach of their businesses.
[16:38] Okay? So I think a clear point is coming. We're going to look at a period of last by a company called Conning in the U.S. And just try to reimagine what you think it would look like if everything was last.
[16:56] The video I was talking about was produced by Conning. Makers of a Conning gorilla glass is by major smartphones producers. This video is a futuristic video.
[17:10] Expect a what-if video. What if everything around you is made up of glass? In this video, a couple is woke up by a glass screen as they alarm.
[17:22] With their daily morning routine, it's been carried out on a glass. For instance, the bathroom mirror is glass, a glass that they can interact with.
[17:32] Their kitchen is full of glass, vignette glass for that matter. At the woman's office, she handles her presentation on a glass board. Basically, everything about this video answers the question, what if everything around you is glass?
[17:52] And the answer to that question is, it'll be so cool. Now, as the video is being played, take note of this code, the e-a-show. Again, the e-a-show is one word, the e-a-show.
[18:20] With this code, when used, of course, you get 10% discount on anything that you shop at kaimi.com. Kaimi produces the best skincare product in the world.
[18:31] Yes, I said it. The best skincare product in the world. Their product is 100% natural with eight unique scents, both the share butter and the pure African black soup.
[18:46] They have eight unique scents. If you love kaimi, then use my code, the e-a-show at checkout on their website. Their website is kaimi.com. Very fast, obviously.
[19:12] Kaimi is trying to argue with themselves. EI is now the new frontier of competition. Everyone is investing, and we're seeing the unique air and air capabilities because, obviously, with that, you can scale faster, you can be more efficient, you can be more intelligent, which obviously gives you an advantage to your competitors.
[19:32] So, by these terms, we're practicing, and we think we're already practicing marketing. Number one is assistive experiences. And assistive experiences essentially speak to our devices, let jokes be read by devices, or be devices that actually assist us and help us get things going right.
[19:52] It's a smart speaker, it's an IoT, it's a smart earphones, it's the personal assistant in laptops and phones, it's in Google, Google Assistant, and all of those things.
[20:05] We think that we have a really active marketing because now we're seeing on Google Search that voice search is fast and great, and it's great.
[20:14] People are not just typing the keywords into the search box, but they are actually speaking directly to Google devices and Android devices to get things going.
[20:25] So, how do marketers respond to that form of media? Right? It's not just reading or video anymore, it's sound voice, right? If I tell my phone, you know, okay Google, where are the best places to eat, and I'm like, do we have those stalls or the restaurants optimized to respond?
[20:45] I'll be present on Mac and other systems that ensure that they're visible when the screen is on top. They don't know what machine they're in, and it's a big thing, it's almost a boss, I think it's a boss right now.
[20:57] Is that what it puts in now, in the presentation? How many of us are here and they haven't heard about the presentation, not pictures. If you guys are very nice, where come from, you see machine learning from the other day, whether or not it has anything to do with machine learning.
[21:10] But obviously it's a big thing, and we think it's one that, you know, is making a really active market today. And then personalized retail marketing, it still relates to your customized but as new fresh users, whereas people that have the history have these up, and you can use that data to service them and engage them there, right?
[21:29] I want to be able to, I don't want my bank to shoot like a new customer every time I go there. I don't want my laundry service or where I buy my folks to treat me like a new customer.
[21:40] I want you to have break calls, and I want you to be able to be by my name, and I want you to be personalized services. And we think, and in single systems, single sale resolutions can really help us to get this done.
[21:51] In fact, before you go into sale resolutions, single user scripts and Excel or Google Sheets can help you personalize the market, and then more of you have never before.
[22:02] On all your feeds to the social, your browsers, and all of that, people don't really push like never before. In fact, our trend of data shows that by 2020, about 80% of the content on the internet will be viewed.
[22:20] So what does that mean? What's the implication for us? Are the titles getting bigger with view? Are we telling better stories? Are we responding to questions?
[22:30] Are we providing insight? Are we using videos in very smart ways? We have bite-sized content for people who just want to smack and go, you know, the Snapchat generation.
[22:40] We have long-form content for those who want to take their time to really get into what you have to offer, you know, at all different formats available.
[22:48] And then immersive experiences. Immersive experiences speaks to AR and VR experiences that go beyond the limits of viewing. Today, at the recent Google I.O. we made, we announced that both sections now offer AR functionalities.
[23:07] So if you go to the research, I'm attacking shoes. I think it's slowly being ruled out, but if you want to see the results for shoes, you're actually going to see an AR experience for shoes.
[23:21] If you turn it around, flip it around, change the color, see how it looks like on your leg, or the furniture in your home, and you know, these are things that people already expect from the platforms.
[23:35] So this might be a trend for us to think it's changing marketing today, and advertisers, agencies especially, need to be on top of this. As far as I'm concerned, if as an agency, you don't have engineering resources in your office, mostly ask if you're ready for, not just the future of what to do.
[23:56] It's no longer just about having campaign managers and retail strategies and all that is great, but you also need to have technical resources to view the solutions, like help your clients tap into the solutions.
[24:08] You need people who are savvy and choosing platforms, working with APIs, and all of our platforms, because that's really critical to expressing and giving the experience for a client.
[24:19] But that's what, our clients will have time to start to invest in all of this, right? They don't have to do what they do, they're just their own products, their own businesses, right?
[24:27] So we rely on the agencies to divide the systems a little bit, and I'm sure you have your client call you and say, what can we do here, or what can we do with the OS system, right?
[24:36] And you know, we're running out of the shelter, we're trying to figure that out, because we haven't really invested in these things. And this is a really critical expertise that I think I will send agents to that site apart in the future.
[24:47] It's not going to be... No. It's not going to be about binary media and rolling companies. It's going to be about creating also experiences for clients, right?
[24:56] And using all of those strengths today, you definitely will stand up if you're able to build capacity in this system. Okay, so our system experiences, we've already talked about that.
[25:12] It's truly speaking to voice your systems and smart home devices that really help us get things done. Today's customers want the frictionless experience, and whenever they're in today's experiences on runs, they tend to sleep longer, and the more the way out, the more value source, right?
[25:31] So if the regular user, I know we probably aren't involved with this, yes, but it's a trend that's going to catch up with it, right? So each one of you comes online and sees a very good restaurant nearby, or where it's a good bank nearby, our clients optimize and answer those questions and deliver those experiences.
[25:53] We are in person for a while, so you will see all of those solutions. Did you know that a thing in the pocket, a big handy question, is more powerful than all of NASA's combined computing power in 1969?
[26:06] Yeah. The rocket that's combined with space, the first line of space, the computing power in that rocket does not have quite as intelligent as what you have, as intelligent as what you have in your phone state, and that just shows how much power the device is carrying with us.
[26:28] It's just carrying both. When you have gyroscope, you have GPS, there are all sorts of things that can really help grant the marketers do a lot of really awesome work.
[26:38] The most popular apps today are useful communication and social media. I think we all realize those rights. Usually, a lot of brands are able to say of directly to building mobile apps as their first foray into mobile storage.
[26:54] However, what we find is that consumers want to experience the threats on the mobile web before they form a deeper co-relationship machine where they are.
[27:02] So we advise brands and agencies to invest in the mobile, who mobile experiences first, before pushing their mobile apps and desk customers to make mobile apps.
[27:14] If you don't give your mobile a great experience very well, chances are your mobile app experiences will be bad. And customers will be more keen to download apps and more into social and communication than they are brands and businesses.
[27:30] 80% of websites still don't function well on mobile. I think, before we move to mobile, how do you know about client-side websites? Put your lines up in to get a competency of 100% of your clients has a mobile service.
[27:48] Okay? Now we're setting up a competition. Put your hands up and leave your hands up if you can confidently see 100% of your clients' website as much as mine is for mobile.
[28:00] Okay, so we have a few people. Well, we can see our website as a big gap and as a big space. And these stakeholders have been around for a while.
[28:09] You no longer have to spend the 100 or 1000 series of dollars to have a great mobile experience. Right? You can use a system platform to build it.
[28:18] You have platforms like Reeds and Space Space and all of these are really big building web experiences very simple. How many of us here have brands on Google My Business?
[28:29] How many of us here have done that about Google My Business? Okay, so for most of them they don't do that. In Google My Business, there's a solution that actually allows to create a website for free.
[28:40] There's a website to do that of the website and the box. And for brands and businesses that don't have the resources to invest in doing the website, it's an easy solution for us that's a good way to start.
[28:52] As I said in my introduction, this is going to be a series of episodes. Today's episode was basically an introduction to the Google set-at-home and the need for agencies to be certified.
[29:21] Ayo also talked about the future of tech, which will rely heavily on AI. Also, personalized digital marketing will be at the forefront of the digital marketing.
[29:33] What I also picked from their presentation is that there are more videos like never before. It is time for advertisers to incorporate videos in their marketing campaigns.
[29:46] Another part of my set-at-home experience will be live same time next week. Kindly subscribe so that you don't miss out. Also, if you found value in this episode, do share on your favorite social media platform.
